MICK'S YEAR IN NUMBERS - 10 Reasons Why Mick Is The New Champ

1. The new World Champ won three of the nine events surfed this season to-date. He was runner-up in another. He was 3rd in four others.
2. Fanning has surfed in the final series of every event since J-Bay last season, (except California this season). That is 15 events, 14 final series, for five event wins.
3. Mick has won all his first round, three man heats; nine wins from nine event starts.
4. He has posted eight of the 28 scores recorded over 18.00 this season, two of which have been over 19.00.
5. There have been ten perfect 10-point rides in 2007, Mick is the only surfer with two.
6. Only 10 times since 2003 a surfer has posted 10 heat wins in a row, Mick has done it twice this season. Fanning has not lost two heats in a row this season, only he and Slater have achieved this. Nobody did it in 2006.
7. Mick has surfed in 20 finals heats in 2007 (eight quarters, eight semis, four finals)
8. Only three surfers on The Dream Tour have beaten Mick more times than Mick has beaten them; 3-8 with Andy; 2-6 with Joel, and 0-3 with Corey.
9. The surfers he has met the most; Andy and Damien (11); Taj, Moura and Willsy (10); Joel, Rosa, Slater, Snake and Macca.
