"I caught my first river waves the other day in France, and it was wild!"
"I never thought in my life I would surf in a river but the other day when I was in France Antony(Colas) this French photographer asked me if I wanted to go with him and surf this river wave in Bordeaux and I was like, 'Yeah, that sounds pretty mad', but had no idea what it'd be like."
"We jumped in his car, drove two hours north of Hossegor to his brother's house where he had a 12' tinny waiting at the boat ramp.
"He explained how it all works; there was all these different sections and we would chase the wave down the river surfing each one, and I was like, "Wow this is going to be so fun."
It's crazy how many people are into their river surfing in Bordeaux. There was a massive crowd on the banks watching people, waiting with all their boards, boogie boards, canoes, kayaks and pretty much whatever floats.
We headed out in the tinny and drove about 20 minutes up the river and surfed about six different sections. All the way down it was so fun. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
"It gives you the biggest rush when you see the wave. You just hope you're in the
right spot to take off because there is only one wave and you don't want to miss it. I must have done a hundred turns at least on all the different sections.
"I rode every section except one; the main section where there was like 100 people on one wave. It was so cool to watch out of the boat though."
"It was so fun and I'm so glad I went ... I heard there is an even bigger wave in China ... might have to go try that one out now!"
