Parko has led his beloved Snapper Rocks Boardriders to a nailbiting win in the hallowed Straddie Assault teams' contest amid the pandanus palms of North Stradbroke Island.
Parko took out tour buddy and Straddie (Point Lookout Boardriders) local Bede Durbidge in a heat that turned out to be the decider between the two long-time rival clubs.
The weekend event -- bringing teams of salivating rippers from all over Australia's pointbreak belt -- is an institution that's been running for 17 years and allows pros and hot locals to surf for club/town pride.

"Yeah, me and Bede had a bit of a tussle out there for sure! And it was completely different with 15 minute heats. Bede looked over and said, 'We've got half the time, and twice as many people.' But yeah I still had him (laughs)!"
"And that team pride, you're surfing for your mates and your local beach. Getting to support your club, people supporting you. You miss this sort of thing when ya surf for yourself. But, y'know, I couldn't do it all the time (laughs).
"That's what it's all about. I enjoy that so much, maybe the grass is greener because I'm away all year and don't get to surf as a team with my mates, so I really make the most of that weekend."
"The waves were real good, about 3'-4'. Actually, surfing that heat with Bede was the worst it got the whole time. He had all the Point Lookout crew behind him, cheering for him. And I had the same as well. Such good fun."
"Everyone from everywhere is over there on the island, great waves, there's funny stuff going on. There was a big celebration at the pub when we won, come to think of it we murdered the pub all weekend."
