HEITOR'S PILGRIMAGE

Along with G-Land, Chicama, Gnaraloo and Cloudbreak, Raglan is indubitably one of the goofyfoot stations of the cross.

And seeing New Zealand is a necessary stop on the way home from Tahiti, Brazilian spontaniac Heitor Alves took the time out to fulfil his religious duty and venerate the place.

After all, when Indicators was turned down as a contender for the Rip Curl Search Event - (the local Maori community put the kybosh on the event as the adjacent foreshore is sacred Iwi land) Heitor knew he had to make the pilgrimage on his own time.

Something he doesn't regret: "I pretty much had one section of the point to myself."
