AMERICAN SANDWICH

In the bread baking boulangeries and supermarches of Labenne, south of Hossegor, apart from steaming fresh baguettes they also sell "American Sandwich" a loaf of bread that can be sliced. It doesn't taste overly exciting but keeps for a longer time. Put it this way, it does the job when there's nothing else around.

Similarly, that is what happens when the waves around Labenne aren't the perfect six-foot rotund-o-beasts the place is renowned for - it may not be anywhere near as fresh and tasty, but it's still a bunch of fun, especially when Ben Bourgeois, Dane Reynolds and Gabe Kling decide to hit the shore dump.
